Non-NHS Services

We are covered by the NHS for the majority of our services but our patients and the various bodies representing them ask us to undertake certain non NHS work such as claim forms, insurance reports, letters, certificates, etc. We make every effort to meet their demands but charge fees for such work since it places an additional workload on our clinicians and staff. We display a poster in the waiting room outlining our charges. NHS clinical work has to take priority so it is not always possible to respond quickly to private services.

We currently do not accept payment by card.

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Private Patients

We are happy to see those who are not eligible for NHS care as private patients.

Medical Certificates

Illnesses lasting 7 days or less do not require a doctor’s certificate. You can complete a self-certification form (SC2) which should be available from your employer or you can download one from the HMRC website. You can also collect this from reception.

If your employer or insurance scheme requires a doctor’s certificate to cover the first week of illness, we can issue a private certificate, for which there will be a charge.

If you require a sick not for an illness which lasts more than a week a ‘Statement of Fitness for Work’ can be issued by your doctor free of charge.

Medical Reports

If you have requested that we complete a Report for you you need to be aware that these do not fall under our remit to provide NHS services.

Please be aware that:

If you have booked a medical with the GP, for the GP to complete the form you MUST have been seen by an optician and that part of the form been completed and stamped before the GP will complete the rest of the report.

Any Report which is bought to a routine GP appointment for completion may not be completed in most cases. Medical Reports may take approximately 28 days to complete so please ensure that you bring these to the practice in plenty of time before needed Reports will only be processed as Urgent at the GPs Discretion. There is likely to be a charge for completing your report. Please refer to our practice pricelist in reception and on our website
